Scholarships

Scholarships are available to students on three levels at Virginia Tech. These three areas are

Departmental Scholarships

Scholarships are available to ungraduates, graduates, and some professionals. Applications are due each year by May 1. It is required that a student have a completed FASFA, but not University Scholarship or a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences applications. Please pay attention to specifics of awards. Archer Yeatts Scholarship ($500 and $1,000)
Scholarship awarded to students majoring in Agricultural and Extension Education. Benefits both undergraduate and graduate students.

Curtis Mays Scholarship ($1,000)
One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student majoring in Agricultural Education. The recipient will be determined on the basis of grades and financial need. Applicants must be from Southwest Virginia.

Cyrus McCormick Scholarship ($1,000)
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to students majoring in Agricultural Education. This is a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences scholarship and is actually awarded through the College. Applicants must complete at least 30 semester hours by the beginning of the fall term in which the scholarship is received with a GPA of at least 2.5.

General Agricultural Education Scholarship
Benefits both undergraduate and graduate students.

H. Robert Sanders Scholarship ($500 and $1,000)
Nephew of Harry W. Sanders and longtime employee of Exxon. Benefits both undergraduate and graduate students.

Harry W. Sanders ($500 and $1,000)
A former vocational agriculture teacher, state supervisor, teacher educator, and head of vocational education at Virginia Tech. Sanders was also a founder of the FFV. Benefits pre-service students.

John Hillison Endowment ($500 and $1,000)
Benefits the preservation of the Virginia Tech FFA Historical Room and provides scholarship support for both undergraduate and graduate students.

T.J. Wakeman Scholarship ($1,000)
A former agriculture mechanics specialist at Virginia Tech, Wakeman is also the co-author of Modern Agriculture Mechanics. The scholarship benefits undergraduate and graduate students.

William C. Dudley Scholarship ($500 and $1,000)
Former Agricultural Education Area Supervisor. Benefits present and former state FFA officers and undergraduate students.
